Bahrain has welcomed the signing of the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement, describing it as a strategic partnership between equal partners that will strengthen regional security and stability.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the agreement reflected a shared commitment to enhancing collective deterrence and promoting peace and security in the region and beyond.

The ministry highlighted the three countries' defence capabilities, military expertise and contributions to regional security, saying the agreement would reinforce joint defence efforts.

It added that the pact complements the Gulf Co-operation Council's defence framework by promoting greater solidarity, integration and co-operation among allied nations.

Reaffirming Bahrain's support for the initiative, the ministry stressed that the security of Saudi Arabia is inseparable from Bahrain's own security and reiterated its commitment to efforts that strengthen regional stability, safeguard sovereignty and advance peaceful solutions to regional challenges.
