Sandhurst Honours First Bahraini Graduate
The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS) honoured His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa as the first Bahraini to graduate from the academy.
The honour marks 70 years of Bahrain’s relationship with RMAS. Shaikh Mohammed joined the academy in 1957.
Shaikh Mohammed said the recognition reflects the longstanding ties between Bahrain and RMAS, which have continued to develop with the support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.
He said the honour also reflects Bahrain’s commitment to preparing and qualifying national talent to the highest military and leadership standards.
Shaikh Mohammed congratulated Bahrain’s graduates in the latest cohort, which included his grandson, and wished them success in serving their country.
Major General Nick Cowley, Commandant of RMAS, presented Shaikh Mohammed with the academy’s sword and medal.
Major General Cowley highlighted the longstanding ties between Bahrain and the academy, dating back to 1936, when the late Shaikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, then Ruler of Bahrain and its Dependencies, visited the United Kingdom and the academy.
