Smart Traffic Safety Measures Expand
Infrastructure development and road network expansion projects in Bahrain are positively impacting traffic safety, according to Major General Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Abdulwahab Al Khalifa, Director General of the General Directorate of Traffic.
He said these projects, carried out under royal directives and followed up by the government, along with the introduction of smart systems and cameras, are reducing traffic violations and accidents while protecting lives and property.
The Director General added that, with the Interior Minister's support, the Directorate has completed the first phase of smart system cameras as part of its plan to develop the traffic system and make greater use of modern technologies to improve road safety.
He explained that these measures strengthen the traffic system and promote compliance with traffic rules and regulations. Performance indicators have also shown a noticeable decline in traffic violations and accidents, reflecting the effectiveness of road development projects and the integration of smart systems.
Shaikh Abdulrahman commended the growing level of traffic awareness among drivers and their commitment to traffic rules, noting this reflects the establishment of a safe driving culture and contributes to improving road user safety.
He added that the General Directorate of Traffic continues to implement its plans to develop the traffic system and utilise modern technologies.
He affirmed that protecting lives and property remains a top priority, while community partnership continues to be a key pillar in achieving a safe and sustainable traffic environment.
