Bahrain is currently experiencing intense summer conditions, with soaring humidity levels marking the peak of the hot season as August begins. This month is traditionally known as the hottest and most humid period in Bahrain and across the Gulf.
According to the Meteorological Directorate at the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications, these stifling conditions are expected to continue until at least the end of the week. Day and night will remain hot and humid, with daytime highs ranging between 43°C and 45°C. During peak hours, the “feels-like” temperature has reached 50°C due to humidity levels climbing as high as 90%, making the weather especially exhausting for the body.
From today, Tuesday, the forecast indicates hot and occasionally humid weather, with variable winds of 5 to 10 knots, shifting to easterly at 10 to 15 knots in the afternoon. Wave heights are expected to range from 1 to 3 feet. Maximum temperatures are forecast to hit 45°C with peak humidity at 90%, persisting through the week.
August in Bahrain is infamous for its extreme heat and humidity, with high sea moisture amplifying the actual temperature felt outdoors.
Health experts are urging residents to avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, especially during peak hours from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. They also advise staying well-hydrated and avoiding strenuous activities in the midday heat to prevent heat exhaustion.
