Kingdom backs Saudi Arabia, demands firm international action

Bahrain has strongly condemned renewed Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia that targeted civilian, economic and vital facilities, injuring several civilians, including women and children.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the attacks, along with threats to commercial shipping and international navigation in the Red Sea and Bab Al Mandab, as a dangerous escalation and a blatant violation of international law.

Bahrain said the attacks breach international humanitarian law, the UN Charter and the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, while challenging relevant UN Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolutions 2216 and 2817.

Saudi security is Gulf security, the Kingdom stressed, reaffirming full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and support for measures taken to protect its sovereignty, citizens, residents and vital facilities.

Bahrain praised the vigilance and effectiveness of the Royal Saudi Air Defense Forces in confronting the attacks and protecting civilian lives, while wishing those injured a speedy recovery.

Shura and Parliament back Saudi Arabia

Shura Council Chairman Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh and Council of Representatives Speaker Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam also condemned the attacks, stressing that threats against Saudi Arabia affect the security of Bahrain and the entire GCC. Both reaffirmed Bahrain’s solidarity with Saudi Arabia and support for measures to protect its security and stability, while calling for unified Gulf and international action against the Houthi threats.

Bahrain called on the international community, particularly the UN Security Council, to take firm and concrete action to deter further attacks, hold perpetrators accountable and enforce relevant resolutions.
