Manama Youth Entrepreneurship Drive Expands

Capital Governor Shaikh Khalid bin Hamood Al Khalifa received dignitaries, community leaders, members of the legislative authority and residents of the governorate during the weekly Majlis.

The meeting reviewed a range of local issues and matters concerning the community, as well as the initiatives and programmes implemented by the Capital Governorate to strengthen communication with residents and promote community partnership.

The Governor expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa on the issuance of Decree-Law No. (38) of 2026 amending certain provisions of Decree-Law No. (17) of 2002 concerning the Governorates System.

The amendment reorganises the role of mukhtars within the governorates system.

Shaikh Khalid said the step reflects His Majesty the King’s vision and continued commitment to strengthening direct communication with citizens and improving the quality of services provided to them, supporting Bahrain’s comprehensive development efforts.

He highlighted the important role that mukhtars will play in strengthening communication channels between residents, governorates and government authorities. They will also contribute to identifying citizens’ needs and concerns and following up on matters affecting their respective areas.

The Governor said this would help accelerate responses to local issues and proposals while enhancing community participation in the development of services and initiatives.

During the meeting, Shaikh Khalid also reviewed the Capital Governorate’s key programmes and activities launched as part of Manama Arab Youth Entrepreneurs Capital 2026.

The initiative has so far included 32 programmes and initiatives, with the governorate continuing to implement specialised activities aimed at promoting entrepreneurship and innovation and creating a supportive environment for individuals with ideas and emerging businesses.

Shaikh Khalid further emphasised the Capital Governorate’s commitment to empowering young people through an integrated plan featuring a range of programmes and initiatives designed to develop their capabilities, enhance their skills and prepare them to benefit from available opportunities.
