Norway Observes Nationwide Minute of Silence for King Harald V

Oslo: Norway observed a one-minute silence on Wednesday to honour the late King Harald V during his official burial in Oslo.
The nationwide minute of silence began at 1 p.m. local time, signalling the beginning of the funeral service in Oslo Cathedral. The quiet was maintained around the country in honour of the monarch, who died on August 28 at the age of 89 after more than three decades on the throne.
King Harald's coffin was carried in a sad procession from the Royal Palace to Oslo Cathedral, with thousands of mourners in the streets. A 21-gun salute accompanied the parade.
Members of European royal families and world leaders attended the burial, including Britain's Prince William, Japan's Crown Prince Akishino, Spain's King Felipe VI, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Following the service, the late king's coffin was transported to Akershus Fortress and laid to rest in the royal crypt. The ceremony marked the end of Norway's 13-day period of national grief.
