Bahrain’s Social Development Minister Joins Regional Push for Stronger Private Sector Role in Social Responsibility
Bahrain’s Minister of Social Development, Osama bin Saleh Al Alawi, took part in the Third Arab Conference on Social Responsibility, held in Beirut and organized by the Union of Arab Chambers in cooperation with the Technical Secretariat of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs and several international partners.
Speaking at the conference in his capacity as the current Chair of the 44th session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs, Minister Al Alawi highlighted the Council’s focus on strengthening partnerships with the private sector. He emphasized that the private sector is a key partner in supporting social protection programs and achieving sustainable development goals—both economically and socially.
He praised the ongoing collaboration between the Council and the Union of Arab Chambers, pointing to joint initiatives like the "Living Independently" program, which supports persons with disabilities, and projects aimed at helping productive families transform their small businesses into pioneering ventures that drive economic and social empowerment.
Minister Al Alawi also stressed the importance of developing better tools and data systems to measure the impact of private sector-led social initiatives. He noted that enhancing corporate social responsibility is essential to building more inclusive and sustainable development models across the Arab world.
