Bahrain Sets Bold Development Path with New Bapco-Hawar Islands Synergy

His Highness Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Personal Representative of His Majesty the King, Chairman of the Supreme Council for the Environment, and Head of the Supreme Committee for the Development of Hawar Islands, praised Bapco Energies for its groundbreaking achievements that mark a new chapter in Bahrain’s energy landscape.

Speaking during a reception held at Al-Dar in Awali, His Highness highlighted how Bapco Energies’ success supports the national economy and aligns with Bahrain’s comprehensive development vision, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, with the close oversight of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

The meeting was attended by His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, member of the Executive Committee of the Hawar Islands Development Authority; H.E. Dr. Mohamed bin Mubarak bin Daina, Minister of Oil and Environment and Special Envoy for Climate Affairs; Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery, Acting Managing Director of Bapco Energies and CEO of Bapco Refining; Mr. Mark Thomas, CEO of Bapco Energies; Mr. Gabriele Cilecchi, Executive Vice President for Technical Affairs at Bapco Exploration & Production; and Mr. Ali Murad Murad, member of the Executive Committee of the Hawar Islands Development Authority.

His Highness credited His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and Chairman of Bapco Energies, for spearheading this successful transformation in the energy sector. He affirmed that national energy companies play a vital role in accelerating the energy transition, reaffirming Bahrain’s commitment to positioning energy development as a cornerstone for economic growth and environmental sustainability.

The meeting also explored future collaboration between the Supreme Committee for the Development of Hawar Islands and Bapco Energies. Discussions centered on upcoming strategic projects that will boost Bahrain’s competitiveness, attract further investment, and preserve the natural environment—aligning with the kingdom’s broader development goals.

Attendees expressed their gratitude to His Highness Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, congratulating him on his recent appointment by Royal Decree as Chairman of the Hawar Islands Development Authority. They lauded his vision and unwavering dedication to enhancing the tourism and economic potential of the islands, and applauded Bahrain’s continued economic strides that strengthen its investment and business landscape.
