More than 1,200 expat workers were deported over the first three months of 2025, according to new data from the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA).

A total of 1,212 were removed, with the monthly average tipping past 400. The figures came as the Authority stepped up field operations in coordination with several ministries.

Between January and March, around 151 joint inspections took place.

These involved the Ministry of Interior, through its Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs division and the police directorates in the governorates, along with the General Directorate of Media and Security Culture, the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, and the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.

Inspectors from the Authority also carried out roughly 11,500 visits during the same period.

Breach of the rules
Some 302 expat workers were found in breach of the rules during these campaigns, according to the reports.

The Authority said that work with other government bodies would continue, with further inspections planned across all governorates.

The aim, it said, is to deal with breaches that may unsettle the job market or threaten Bahrain’s economic and social stability.
