Shaikha Mai attends opening of photo gallery in Russia

President of Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa has participated in the opening of a photo gallery, commemorating the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Bahrain and Russia.

The event was held at the State Historical Museum of Russia yesterday in the presence of Ambassador of Bahrain to Russia, Ahmed Al Saati, and a number of official diplomats.

Shaikha Mai praised the strong cultural relations between Bahrain and Russia in the past couple of years in artistic, cultural, intellectual works.

Recently, world-renowned ballet ‘Giselle’ was presented at the Bahrain National Theatre by the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow.

The exhibitions, ‘Tylos: A Journey Beyond Life’ held in July 2012 at Hermitage Museum and ‘Pearl in the Arabian Gulf’ from September to October 2013 at Museum of Applied Arts in Moscow are classic examples of exemplary cultural exchanges between the two sides.

Bahrain has also hosted several important Russian exhibitions including ‘Space’ exhibition and the traditional crafts of North Ossetia-Alania exhibition, both held at the Bahrain National Museum.

But performing arts and music had the greatest share as the Bahrain National Museum hosted many Russian masterpieces since its opening in December 2012.

These were presented by the most important theatres in Russia, such as the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow and Mariinsky Theatre.
