Nigerian Air Force Aircraft Crashes in Southwestern Nigeria
A Nigerian Air Force aircraft crashed on Monday in Igbokoda, Ondo State, in southwestern Nigeria, with 32 people on board, according to the military and Nigeria’s aviation minister.
Air Force spokesperson Ehimen Ejodame said the aircraft was on a routine mission from Benin City in southern Nigeria to Lagos when it went down in Igbokoda.
Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo said in a post on X that preliminary information indicated 25 passengers and seven crew members were aboard the aircraft.
Keyamo added that the wreckage had been located near a naval base.
Video circulating on social media showed people gathered near a river as rescuers searched the area by boat.
Further details about the cause of the crash and the condition of those on board were not immediately available.
