India Unplugged Season 2 Draws Crowds in Bahrain
The Indian Ladies’ Association (ILA) Bahrain hosted the second season of its popular quiz competition, “India Unplugged,” on August 14 at Epix Cinema, Dana Mall, as part of its 70th-anniversary celebrations.
The event brought together 35 teams and 105 participants aged 15 and above, including families, students and community members, for a lively competition focused on India’s history, culture, personalities and trivia.
The competition began with a written preliminary round, with six teams advancing to the finals. The final stage featured eight rounds covering audio, visual and rhyme-based questions, keeping participants and the packed auditorium engaged throughout the evening.
Jignesh Purohit, Country Manager of Air India Bahrain, attended as Chief Guest, while Sujay Uchil of EPIX Cinema was the Guest of Honour. ILA President Smitha Jensen welcomed the gathering and highlighted the importance of celebrating Indian heritage and community unity.
The winning team, The Tricolour Trio, comprising Silvan Varghese, Joel Indrupati and Urmila Borde, claimed the first prize of USD 1,000. TeamAAG secured second place with USD 500, while Rajasthan Royals took third place with USD 300.
Five all-women teams also received special gift hampers in recognition of their participation.
The ILA, founded in 1956 under the banner “Service Before Self,” said the growing participation reflects the success of “India Unplugged” and its place among the community’s annual events celebrating Indian heritage.
