Bahrain chairs GCC justice officials meeting on international cooperation

Bahrain chaired the fourth 2026 meeting of officials responsible for international cooperation and international relations at the justice ministries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states.

The meeting was chaired by Counsellor Dr. Mohammed Ahmed Mujbil, Assistant Undersecretary for State Cases and International Cooperation at Bahrain's Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Waqf, as part of Bahrain's presidency of the GCC's 46th session.

Bahrain's delegation included Mohammed Jamal Sultan, Director of the Legislative Affairs and International Cooperation Directorate at the Ministry, along with representatives from the international cooperation departments of the GCC justice ministries.

The meeting focused on strengthening judicial and legal cooperation and coordination among GCC countries, particularly through a policy aimed at enhancing collaboration between their justice ministries.

The policy seeks to improve coordination and facilitate the exchange of expertise, experience, and best practices in judicial and legal affairs.

Participants also discussed Bahrain's initiative to establish electronic connectivity for judicial notices and notifications, aimed at using digital solutions to enhance and streamline judicial cooperation across the GCC.

The meeting further reviewed draft unified rules for combating information technology crimes, supporting greater coordination among GCC countries in addressing emerging cyber-related offences.
