Saudi Arabia Resumes Oil Exports Through East-West Pipeline After Repairs
Saudi Arabia has resumed oil exports through its East-West Pipeline after completing repairs following drone strikes on September 10, according to Bloomberg.
Saudi Aramco tested the pipeline last week ahead of the restart, with shipments destined for export now moving through the route.
The pipeline provides Saudi Arabia with a major alternative route for crude exports, reducing reliance on maritime shipments through the Strait of Hormuz amid continued risks to shipping in the Arabian Gulf.
The East-West Pipeline has a capacity of 7 million barrels per day. Around 2 million barrels per day typically supply refineries on Saudi Arabia’s west coast, leaving the remaining capacity available for exports.
The westward route became an important supply channel during the conflict with Iran, helping maintain crude flows while maritime shipping faced heightened risks.
Traders are expected to monitor how Saudi Arabia balances shipments through the pipeline with exports via the Strait of Hormuz as the East-West system returns to full capacity.
