Authorities arrest armed man at Trump golf course in California

Los Angeles: A man carrying a loaded pistol was arrested at President Donald Trump's golf property in Rancho Palos Verdes, California, ahead of his intended visit this week, prompting a combined federal-local investigation.

The suspect, 38-year-old Jeanine John Taele of Downey, California, was caught when authorities saw him taking images and recordings of the Trump National Golf Club while reportedly watching security preparations. A search of his vehicle revealed a loaded handgun, ammunition, and a bulky magazine.

Investigators looked into Taele's home, finding additional firearms, body armour, ammo, communication devices, and notebooks with what officials described as troubling sentiments. He has been charged with various weapons-related crimes and is prohibited from using the golf course or owning firearms while the case is pending.

Authorities say there is no immediate threat to President Trump or the public, but the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force, the Secret Service, and local law enforcement are still looking into the suspect's reasons. Trump is scheduled to visit a Los Angeles-area golf course later this week for a Republican National Committee fundraiser.
