Russia says six killed in Ukraine strike on Crimea Black Sea resort

Moscow: Russia says at least six people were killed and numerous more were injured as Ukrainian strikes targeted a famous Black Sea tourist region in Crimea, making it one of the worst documented attacks on the peninsula in recent weeks.

According to the Russian-installed authorities in Crimea, the strikes targeted civilian areas along the Black Sea shoreline, causing damage to residential buildings, tourist facilities, and other infrastructure. Emergency crews were dispatched to the impacted areas to put out flames, clear debris, and assist the injured. Officials indicated the death toll might grow as rescue efforts continue.

Russia blamed Ukraine for the attack, claiming it was an intentional hit on civilian targets. Ukraine did not immediately respond to the allegations, and the reported casualties could not be independently verified. Kyiv has previously stated that military sites and logistics infrastructure in Russian-occupied Crimea are valid targets, but has not confirmed any specific operations.

Crimea, which Russia annexed in 2014 but is internationally regarded as part of Ukraine, has been a frequent target of drone and missile attacks throughout the conflict. The new strike comes as both sides intensify their cross-border attacks, with Russia conducting aerial assaults on Ukrainian cities and Ukraine increasing long-range strikes on Russian-controlled areas.
