7 Dead After Helicopter Crashes On Wildfire Mission in Argentina

Buenos Aires: A firefighting helicopter crashed in Argentina's western San Juan province on Wednesday, killing all seven people on board.
The deceased included firefighters, police officers, and civil protection personnel who were preparing to help extinguish severe forest fires in neighboring La Rioja province.
The Bell 412 aircraft lost contact with base around 10:30 a.m. local time and crashed inside Ischigualasto natural park during a training mission.
Emergency services immediately deployed rescue teams to the remote crash site, while authorities initiated a formal investigation to determine what caused the fatal accident.
San Juan Governor Marcelo Orrego expressed profound grief over the tragedy and declared three days of official provincial mourning. Argentine Security Minister Alejandra Monteoliva also extended her condolences to the families of the fallen first responders.
Meanwhile, firefighters in La Rioja continue to fight severe mountain wildfires that
have consumed hundreds of hectares.
