Athens: Coordinated pre-dawn firebomb attacks targeting the private homes of three prominent Greek ruling party officials in Thessaloniki have tragically left one person dead and four others injured.
Unknown assailants detonated improvised camping gas canisters within a tight twenty-minute window, deliberately striking the residences of governing conservative New Democracy party figures: administrative committee president Zisis Ioakeimovits, former lawmaker Savvas Anastasiadis, and political candidate Afroditi Nestora.
The most destructive blast ignited a massive fire at Nestora's apartment complex, inflicting fatal burn injuries on her mother and requiring the immediate hospitalization of four neighboring residents.
The other two targeted explosions caused severe property damage but no additional casualties. Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis heavily condemned the murderous assaults, asserting that democracy will never be intimidated by political terrorism. Greece’s Counterterrorism Unit has assumed full control of the case, launching an intensive regional manhunt to capture the suspects who fled the scenes on motorcycles.
