South Africa Tavern Shooting Death Toll Rises to 18

Johannesburg: The dead toll from a mass shooting at a pub in Wedela, west of Johannesburg, has increased to 18, with another victim dying in the hospital, South African police said Monday.
The attack occurred late Saturday, when eight armed men reportedly opened fire on patrons outside a tavern before entering and continuing to shoot. Police reported that the attackers were armed with AK-47 rifles and handguns.
Initially, 17 people, 13 men and four women were killed, with several others injured. According to police, five of the injured individuals are still in serious condition, while the others are stable.
Authorities initiated a manhunt for the eight suspects, but no arrests have been made thus far. The motivation is still under investigation, with authorities looking into suspected links to robbery, retribution, and conflicts over illegal gold mining in the area.
