Gaza City: Gaza health officials said Israeli strikes killed five people, including a child, in the Palestinian territory on Monday. The fatal violence occurred despite an active ceasefire being in place, as progress toward a final peace agreement remains stalled.

The first attack involved an Israeli drone strike hitting a group of civilians in central Gaza's Deir el-Balah. Al-Aqsa Hospital confirmed the strike killed three people, including an eight-year-old child, while an Israeli military source claimed it targeted jihadi terrorists.

Later that day, a separate airstrike targeted a tent on a beach in southern Khan Yunis. Gaza's civil defence agency reported that this second bombardment killed two people and left more than 27 others injured.

The Israeli military stated that this strike targeted a Hamas terrorist and that forces work to mitigate civilian harm. However, officials disputed the reported casualty count, arguing it did not match their data.

Since this ceasefire took effect on October 10 last year, at least 1,045 Palestinians have been killed. Over the same period, Israel's military reports losing five soldiers and one contractor.
