Bahrain’s under-18 basketball team kept their perfect Arab Championship run alive in Sfax after beating Libya 73-58 to claim a third straight win and move closer to a place in the final.
The young national side led from the start, taking the first quarter 21-12 before stretching their lead to 39-27 by half-time. They stayed in control after the break, ending the third quarter 52-42, then saw out the game in the final period to seal a 15-point win.
The result lifted Bahrain to six points at the top of the standings, following earlier wins over Algeria, 60-51, and hosts Tunisia, 78-66.
Bahrain will have a rest day today before returning to face Morocco on Wednesday in the fourth round. They will then close their preliminary-stage matches against Egypt on Thursday; the two games are likely to shape the race for the final.
The Arab under-18 championship is being played in a single round-robin format, with all six teams facing each other once. The top two teams will meet in the final, while the third- and fourth-placed teams will play for third place.
