Beirut: An Israeli drone strike near Kfar Rumman in southern Lebanon killed two people on Wednesday. Hezbollah condemned the attack as a ‘blatant violation’ of the truce, asserting the victims were civilians, while the Israeli military maintained they targeted armed militants who posed an immediate threat. This incident follows a similar strike 48 hours prior.
Despite the violence, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stated troops will not withdraw from southern Lebanon, noting no American demand for a pullback. Meanwhile, Lebanon and Israel continue direct talks in Washington.
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun emphasized that these negotiations remain separate from the broader US-Iran diplomatic discussions regarding the wider Middle East war.
