Germany Rail Services Resume After Nationwide Communications Failure

Berlin: Train services across Germany were gradually resuming after a major technical failure in the railway radio communication system brought rail traffic nationwide to a halt.
State-owned operator Deutsche Bahn said all trains were temporarily stopped at stations on Monday because of the outage. The company later announced that the fault had been resolved and services were restarting, although passengers were warned to expect delays and disruptions.
The communications failure affected municipal, regional and long-distance rail services across the country.
Deutsche Bahn said technicians worked to restore the system and move stranded passengers safely. The incident comes as Germany continues efforts to modernise its ageing rail network after years of underinvestment that have contributed to frequent delays and reliability issues.
