United States: The United States began their World Cup trip in a strong style, defeating Paraguay 4-1 in their first Group D match to make an opening mark in the tournament.
The hosts started strong, pressing high and dictating possession as they rapidly found their feet in front of their home crowd. Their attacking energy paid off as they drove through Paraguay's defence and built an early lead, putting the South American team on the back foot.
Paraguay failed to keep up with the USA's pace and movement in transition, allowing the hosts to create space in the final third. Despite brief instances of challenge, they were unable to stop the momentum as the United States extended their lead with flawless finishing.
Although Paraguay's late response brought some relief, the USA maintained complete control and set the pace till the final whistle.
