Saudi Arabia Highlights Role in South-South Cooperation

Saudi Arabia has welcomed the launch of the Global Alliance for South-South and Triangular Cooperation, describing it as an important step toward greater integration, reduced duplication and stronger respect for national development priorities.

Speaking on the UN Day for South-South Cooperation, Saudi Permanent Representative to the UN Abdulaziz Al-Wasil said the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 closely aligns with key priorities of South-South cooperation, including economic diversification, digital transformation, innovation, sustainability, youth empowerment and private-sector development.

Al-Wasil highlighted the role of the Saudi Fund for Development, which has financed and supported development projects across various sectors in more than 100 developing countries.

He reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to working with UN member states and international partners to advance more inclusive, sustainable and prosperous development.

Observed annually on September 12, the UN day celebrates collaboration, knowledge-sharing and practical solutions among countries of the Global South. This year’s theme is “Solidarity Rising: Global Alliance for Inclusive and Innovative Development.”
