Royal Court Minister Receives NIHR Annual Report

Assigned by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of the Royal Court, received Ali Ahmed Al Derazi, President of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), who presented the institution’s 13th annual report for 2025.

The report highlights the NIHR’s efforts and developments in the field of human rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain, including its key initiatives, recommendations, field monitoring findings, and training and awareness programmes carried out during the year.

During the meeting, the Minister conveyed His Majesty the King’s greetings to the NIHR, its members and General Secretariat, and commended the achievements outlined in the report, which reflect Bahrain’s progress in human rights as part of the Kingdom’s comprehensive development process.

Shaikh Khalid affirmed His Majesty’s commitment to strengthening the Kingdom’s human rights framework and upholding the principles of the rule of law and justice, while reiterating continued royal support for these efforts.

He also praised the NIHR’s regional and international achievements, including its presidency of the Arab Network for National Human Rights Institutions.

The Minister highlighted the institution’s organisation, in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), of a regional workshop on “Responsible AI Governance in Arab States”.

He said such initiatives demonstrate the role of national expertise and accumulated experience, as well as Bahrain’s continued commitment to multilateral cooperation at the regional and international levels in advancing human rights frameworks related to modern technologies.

These efforts, he added, further strengthen Bahrain’s role as a leading hub for human rights and development initiatives.

Al Derazi expressed his sincere gratitude to His Majesty the King for the unlimited royal support extended to the NIHR, which he said has enabled the institution to carry out its mandate and mission independently and efficiently.

He noted that the annual report documents the institution’s main efforts and initiatives during 2025, alongside its recommendations, field monitoring findings, and training and awareness programmes implemented throughout the year.
