Masam Clears 1,303 Explosives in Yemen
The clearance operations removed 1,276 unexploded ordnances, 18 anti-tank mines, eight improvised explosive devices and one anti-personnel mine.
The devices had been planted indiscriminately in areas across Yemen, posing risks to civilians, including children, women and the elderly.
Demining operations were carried out in Marib, Aden, Al-Jouf, Shabwa, Taiz, Hodeidah, Lahij, Sanaa, Al-Bayda, Al-Dhale and Saada.
The latest operations bring the total number of explosive devices cleared by the Masam project since its launch in 2018 to 590,491.
Masam teams work to clear mines and other explosive devices from villages, roads and schools to enable safer movement for civilians and support the delivery of humanitarian aid.
The project also trains local Yemeni demining engineers, provides them with modern equipment and supports Yemenis who have been injured by explosive devices.
Through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief), Saudi Arabia continues to support mine-clearance efforts in Yemen, with the aim of improving civilian safety and helping communities return to a safer and more dignified environment.
