Qatar advances human rights action plan

Discussions focus on aligning policies with legislation and best practices

Consultations on the National Human Rights Action Plan for 2026–2030 continued on Sunday in the capital, as Qatar moves forward with preparations for its next phase of rights-based policy development.

The sessions, organised by the committee responsible for drafting the plan, were held in Doha and attended by the Attorney General, Dr Issa bin Saad Al Jafali Al Nuaimi.

The Office of the Public Prosecution hosted the latest consultation meeting, which was also attended by the Minister of State for International Cooperation, Dr Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad.

The discussions reviewed topics related to the responsibilities of the Public Prosecution, alongside proposals aimed at shaping the upcoming national plan. Participants examined ways to ensure the framework aligns with domestic legislation, national policies, and international best practices in the field of human rights.

Officials present at the meeting underlined the importance of continued coordination between national institutions. They said such cooperation reflects Qatar's participatory approach to developing and implementing national strategies.

They also highlighted the need to strengthen institutional integration in order to better support and protect human rights across the country.

At the conclusion of the session, participants reaffirmed that the National Human Rights Action Plan serves as a comprehensive national framework for advancing human rights protections. They added that the Public Prosecution remains a key partner in national efforts to further develop the human rights system and reinforce the rule of law and justice in the state.
