Pyongyang: North Korea has conducted a mass ‘firepower attack drill’ utilizing long-range artillery, tactical missiles, and drones. State news agency KCNA reported Monday that the exercises took place on Saturday and involved combined military units at all levels.

The drill tested several new combat systems, including tactical cruise missiles, large-caliber thermal-pressure rocket launchers, and various attack drones. State media claimed the weapons demonstrated massive destructive power by hitting designated targets with 100 percent accuracy.

South Korea separately reported detecting multiple ballistic missiles launched Saturday from the Wonsan area toward the East Sea, also known as the Sea of Japan.

The firepower display occurred just one day after South Korea concluded five days of joint maritime exercises with the United States and Japan that focused on North Korea.
