PARIS: France announced on Saturday that it has officially banned far-right Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir from entering the country. The diplomatic move was declared directly by French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot on the social media platform X.
The entry ban was triggered after Ben Gvir posted a controversial video mocking bound activists who were captured by Israeli soldiers on a Gaza-bound aid flotilla. In addition to the immediate national ban, France is expanding its diplomatic push. Barrot revealed that Paris, alongside Italy, is actively calling for European Union-level sanctions against the Israeli minister.
