California: LinkedIn, the Microsoft-owned professional networking giant, is laying off 668 employees across its engineering, product, talent, and marketing divisions. This restructuring marks the second significant round of job cuts for the company this year, following the elimination of 716 roles in May and the shuttering of its China-focused ‘InCareer’ application.

The decision comes as the platform navigates a complex financial landscape. Although LinkedIn recently surpassed $15 billion in annual revenue for the first time, it has experienced eight consecutive quarters of slowing year-on-year revenue growth.

In a statement to staff, the company explained that these organizational changes are intended to manage expenses while allowing for continued investment in strategic priorities.

Impacted individuals are being offered severance pay and transition support. These layoffs reflect a broader trend of downsizing within the technology sector as major firms seek to maintain efficiency amidst shifting economic conditions and cooling growth rates.
