Baku: Bahrain launched its national pavilion at the 13th World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, where Housing and Urban Planning Minister Amina bint Ahmed Al Rumaihi highlighted the Kingdom's urban development achievements and housing initiatives under national leadership.
The forum, entitled ‘Housing the World: Safe and Resilient Cities and Communities,’ attracted over 28,000 participants from 172 nations and was officially launched by Ilham Aliyev, along with senior authorities and representatives from international organisations such as UN-Habitat.
According to Al Rumaihi, the forum is an important global venue for exchanging ideas and developing novel housing solutions that are consistent with Bahrain's economic strategy and national development plans. She added that the event has a significant impact on future urban planning and the development of sustainable and resilient communities.
Bahrain's pavilion gained a lot of attention from international delegations, exhibiting the ‘Muharraq Development Project’ as a model for combining modern urban planning with heritage preservation. The show also emphasised the digitisation of housing services through the ‘Bayti’ platform, as well as the growth of the Government Land Development Rights Programme, which aims to increase social housing through partnerships with private developers.
