ABU DHABI: UAE President His Highness Shaikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has directed the adoption of a comprehensive national healthcare system to guarantee universal medical care for all citizens.

The landmark system is underpinned by a fully integrated national health insurance scheme that covers all emirates nationwide. This major policy shift is designed to ensure easy access to high-quality health services while building an advanced and sustainable medical sector.

According to Ahmed bin Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of Health and Prevention, the initiative reflects a core national vision that positions human health and quality of life at the heart of the UAE's development priorities.

Operating on a unified federal and local framework, the new system leverages interconnected digital health platforms, preventive care, and sustained infrastructure investments.

Officials emphasize that the strategic step will optimize resource utilization, elevate readiness to global standards, and secure flexible, long-term health outcomes for citizens at every stage of life.
