The United Arab Emirates has called on the United Nations Security Council to take decisive action following what it described as a terrorist attack targeting an electricity generator outside the inner perimeter of the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant.
During an emergency Security Council session, the UAE urged the international body to strongly condemn the incident, describing the targeting of peaceful nuclear facilities as a serious violation of international law and the UN Charter.
The UAE warned that attacks on civilian infrastructure and nuclear facilities pose a direct threat to regional and global peace and security.
Officials stressed that the UAE will not tolerate threats to its sovereignty or national security and reaffirmed the country’s commitment to protecting vital infrastructure and responding firmly to any attacks targeting civilian facilities.
The Barakah Nuclear Power Plant, located in the Al Dhafra region, is the Arab world’s first peaceful nuclear energy facility and plays a key role in the UAE’s energy strategy.
