London: The Royal Observatory has warned that human ability for critical and independent thinking may be weakened as a result of the growing reliance on instant artificial intelligence-generated responses.

Experts associated with the organisation claim that AI tools are becoming deeply integrated in everyday life, providing quick responses to queries, resolving issues immediately, and simplifying difficult processes in a matter of seconds. Although these developments offer efficiency and convenience, experts worry that an ongoing reliance on such technology might hinder critical thinking, deeper learning, and true curiosity.

According to the Observatory, human intelligence develops through questioning, researching, experimenting, and making mistakes, all of which may fall if people increasingly rely on AI for immediate solutions rather than engaging in independent thought. Experts also expressed concern that kids and young users might become overly dependent on AI systems for academic work, decision-making, and creative tasks.
