Washington DC: Aerospace giant Boeing confirmed on Friday that China has committed to purchasing an initial tranche of 200 aircraft. The announcement follows US President Donald Trump’s recent official visit to Beijing, where Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg participated as part of the American delegation.

In an official statement, Boeing declared the trip highly successful, achieving its primary objective of reopening the crucial Chinese market to its order books after a protracted commercial freeze.

While Boeing declined to specify the breakdown of models involved, the initial 200-plane deal could potentially expand. Speaking aboard Air Force One, President Trump stated that the arrangement includes a broader promise of up to 750 total planes if the initial phase progresses successfully.

The agreement marks a major breakthrough for Boeing, which has faced a volatile relationship with Chinese regulators since the worldwide grounding of its 737 MAX. Boeing expressed gratitude to the Trump administration for facilitating this pivotal commercial milestone.
