UAE Accelerates Second West–East Pipeline to Bypass Hormuz Strait

Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi is fast-tracking construction of a second West–East oil pipeline to Fujairah as the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company seeks to expand export capacity and reduce reliance on the Strait of Hormuz.

The project, expected to be operational by 2027, will double the UAE’s oil export capacity and provide an alternative route for shipments amid ongoing regional tensions and disruptions to maritime flows.

The move comes as global energy markets remain under pressure, with restricted shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and repeated attacks on energy infrastructure limiting operational stability.

During a meeting of ADNOC’s executive committee, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince HRH Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan called for faster execution of the project to meet rising global energy demand.

HRH Crown Prince said ADNOC remains positioned as a “responsible and reliable global energy producer,” capable of increasing output when export constraints ease.
