Beijing: U.S. President Donald Trump has departed Beijing after a two-day summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping, touting what he described as significant trade agreements covering aircraft, agriculture, and other sectors.
According to Trump and his advisers, China has agreed to purchase 200 Boeing aircraft, along with more than $10 billion worth of U.S. agricultural products, as well as additional energy and medical device imports. However, Chinese officials have not publicly confirmed the scale or specifics of these commitments.
The visit, closely watched amid ongoing geopolitical competition between the world’s two largest economies, comes as both countries continue to navigate deep trade tensions despite their strong economic interdependence.
During discussions in Beijing, Trump described the talks as productive, saying “a lot of good has come of it” and praising what he called “fantastic trade deals” reached during the meetings.
While the U.S. side projected optimism, analysts noted that key structural issues in the trade relationship remain unresolved, and that any announced deals are unlikely to significantly alter broader economic rivalry between Washington and Beijing.
