Oakland: As the high-profile litigation for the company's future governance drew to a close, lawyers for billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk and AI company OpenAI traded harsh accusations in court.

OpenAI's legal team asserted that Musk had ‘selective amnesia’ about the company's transformation from a nonprofit research lab into a commercial AI powerhouse, while Musk's lawyer accused Sam Altman of lying under oath during closing arguments in a federal court in Oakland.

Musk, who co-founded OpenAI in 2015 before quitting the company in 2018, claims that the company compromised its initial goal of creating artificial intelligence for the good of humanity rather than for financial gain. In addition to significant damages, he wants the company's leadership structure modified.

OpenAI denied the allegations, claiming that Musk had backed initiatives to generate funds and expand the firm while he was employed by the organization. Musk then turned against OpenAI, according to the company's lawyers, because he was unable to have further influence on the company's direction.

The widely observed case has attracted a lot of attention in the technology sector, and many predict that the verdict may have an impact on future funding and governance of artificial intelligence companies.

The trial is scheduled to end in the next few days, and following final discussions, a decision is anticipated.
