Manama:
The Fourth Junior Criminal Court in Bahrain has sentenced three defendants to six years in prison for stealing gold bars, luxury watches, and valuable collectibles worth more than BD 800,000 from a residence in the Juffair area.
Five other defendants were handed jail terms ranging from six months to two years for concealing and possessing the stolen items, knowing they were proceeds of a crime.
According to court records, the theft was discovered after the homeowner returned to Bahrain and found his residence had been broken into. The stolen items included 22 Rolex watches, approximately 1.5 kilograms of gold, and several gold bars stored inside a secure safe in the master bedroom.
Investigators from Bahrain’s Capital Governorate Police Directorate reviewed surveillance footage and identified a suspicious vehicle near the residence on the day of the theft. Further investigations led police to one of the suspects, whose confession helped authorities identify and arrest the remaining accused.
Police later recovered the stolen valuables, and all suspects were referred to court, which issued the prison sentences in the high-value theft case.
