Qatar’s Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi, met with China’s Special Envoy for Afghanistan, Yue Xiaoyong, on Thursday to discuss the latest developments in Afghanistan and international efforts to promote stability in the country, the ministry said.
The talks, held in Doha, focused on recent political and security developments in Afghanistan and explored ways to strengthen coordinated international action aimed at supporting peace and long-term stability.
Both sides reviewed ongoing regional and global efforts related to the Afghan file, emphasizing the importance of continued dialogue and cooperation among key international stakeholders.
Dr. Al Khulaifi reaffirmed Qatar’s commitment to supporting the peaceful resolution of conflicts through diplomatic means, stressing the country’s consistent approach to strengthening the foundations of regional and international peace and stability.
Qatar has played a mediating role in several regional diplomatic efforts in recent years, including engagements related to Afghanistan following the return of the Taliban to power in 2021.
The Chinese envoy’s visit comes amid continued international concern over Afghanistan’s humanitarian situation and governance challenges, as global actors seek coordinated approaches to engagement with Kabul.
