Kyiv: Russia has launched a massive wave of aerial attacks against Ukraine, marking a violent end to a brief diplomatic reprieve. President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed on Tuesday that more than 200 long-range attack drones were fired at Ukrainian targets overnight.
The escalation follows the expiration of a three-day partial halt in fighting, which had been brokered by the United States. Zelensky noted that the decision to resume hostilities rested solely with Moscow, stating that Russia ‘chose to end the partial silence’ that had offered a few days of relative calm.
This renewed offensive highlights the fragility of recent diplomatic efforts. As the truce concluded, the scale of the drone barrage, one of the most significant in recent weeks demonstrates Russia's immediate return to high-intensity warfare. Ukrainian officials are now assessing the impact of these strikes as air defense systems were engaged across the country to counter the overnight onslaught.
