ANKARA: In a significant move to strengthen bilateral relations, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye signed a mutual visa exemption agreement for holders of diplomatic and special passports during the third meeting of the Turkish-Saudi Coordination Council in Ankara.

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan and his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, finalized the deal as part of a broader effort to institutionalize cooperation between the two regional powers.

The discussions extended far beyond administrative travel, covering critical sectors including defense, energy, trade, and transportation. Highlighting the economic importance of the partnership, official data showed that bilateral trade soared to $8.5 billion by late 2025.

The ministers also addressed pressing regional issues, specifically the ongoing humanitarian situation in Gaza, emphasizing a shared commitment to regional stability and security.

Following the signing, Prince Faisal also met with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to further reinforce the strategic alignment between Riyadh and Ankara.
