Los Angeles - The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has officially disqualified artificial intelligence from the film industry's most prestigious awards.
The Academy issued a definitive ruling on Friday stating that only real, live human performers are eligible for acting Oscars. This move establishes a strict crackdown on the use of AI avatars, requiring that any credited role be demonstrably performed by a human with their full consent.
Under the updated regulations, the writing categories have also been restricted to human-authored screenplays.
The new code explicitly bars chatbots and other AI tools from being credited as authors for award consideration.
This decision follows growing industry debates regarding the digital recreation of deceased performers. By codifying these standards, the Academy aims to preserve the human element of cinema and ensure that its top prizes remain reserved for people rather than software.
