Oman, Vatican discuss interfaith dialogue and peace efforts

Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi held talks with Nicholas Henry Tivin to review bilateral relations and strengthen cooperation on interfaith dialogue, officials said.

The meeting, held at the Foreign Ministry’s General Diwan, focused on ties between Oman and the Holy See, alongside efforts to promote mutual understanding among religions and cultures through respect and tolerance.

During the discussions, Al Busaidi highlighted recent remarks by Pope Leo XIV calling for justice, peace, and an end to violence and conflict, stressing the importance of dialogue and peaceful solutions to global challenges.

The Vatican envoy praised Oman’s balanced foreign policy, noting its role in encouraging dialogue, easing regional tensions, and supporting humanitarian initiatives.

Senior officials from both sides, including representatives from the Foreign Ministry’s Europe department, attended the meeting.
