Shots Fired at US Consulate in Toronto Again, No Injuries Reported

Toronto: A gunshot fired at the US Consulate in downtown Toronto early Monday, marking the second incident involving gunfire targeting the diplomatic mission this year. No injuries were reported, but police discovered a shell casing and confirmed minimal damage to the building.
According to Toronto Police, a consulate security officer heard a gunshot about 4:46 a.m. local time. Witnesses reported seeing a white vehicle departing the scene soon after the incident. Authorities have initiated an inquiry but have not announced any arrests or determined the motive.
The new gunfire follows a similar attack on the embassy in March, when many shots were fired into the premises. Following the incident, security increased around the US and Israeli diplomatic posts in Toronto, amid worries over a string of attacks on Jewish organisations in Canada.
The US State Department stated that it is cooperating closely with Canadian law enforcement as the investigation unfolds. The consulate remains open, however some normal services have been temporarily rescheduled.
