US Secret Service Agent Among Three Arrested Over University Hazing Case

Miami: A US Secret Service agent is among three men arrested in Florida over an alleged violent hazing incident involving members of a University of Miami fraternity that left two students seriously injured.
Marquez Pinder, 29, Lamar James, 26, and Elijah Delano Dyous, 29, have been charged with hazing, attempted manslaughter and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, according to court records.
Prosecutors said the alleged hazing took place over four days at several off-campus residences, where fraternity members were reportedly subjected to repeated beatings with canes and paddles. Investigators said the assaults were allegedly carried out when participants failed to correctly answer questions about the fraternity.
One victim, a law student, suffered kidney failure and required surgery, while another person was also hospitalised.
The US Secret Service said Pinder has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the case. The investigation is continuing.
