Brussels: European Union Foreign Policy Chief Kaja Kallas has issued a sharp call for "shared responsibility," warning Gulf allies that international cooperation regarding the war in Ukraine cannot remain a "one-way street."
In a recent assessment of the shifting geopolitical landscape, Kallas highlighted a significant imbalance in diplomatic and military support. She noted that while the EU remains a primary contributor to Middle Eastern stability maintaining naval presence in the Red Sea and providing critical aid to the Palestinian Authority—the bloc has not received equivalent support from Gulf partners in countering Russian aggression.
Kallas further defended the EU against criticism regarding the escalating US-Israel-Iran conflict, labeling such detractions "unfair." She asserted that Europe is not responsible for the regional volatility or the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. Stressing the need for transatlantic unity, Kallas reminded allies that global stability hinges on mutual support, urging a more coordinated stance as adversaries align more effectively.
