Spain closes airspace to US planes involved in Iran war

MADRID: Spain has officially closed its airspace to U.S. military aircraft involved in the ongoing conflict with Iran. This decision follows the government's previous refusal to allow the use of jointly-operated military bases on Spanish soil.
The Ministry of Defence stated that the ban applies to all flight plans related to operations in Iran, including aerial refueling. While the closure forces U.S. planes to bypass the country, an exception remains for emergency situations.
Spanish officials described the move as a commitment to international law, maintaining that the country will not participate in a war initiated unilaterally.
